On my latest trip to Florida, my wise mentor pointed out that my being-energy might just be more powerful than my doing-energy.

I had to sit on that one for a day. What did she mean? Could me BE-ing be enough?

Our lives are structured around doing…doing our job, doing the laundry, doing a diet, doing fitness….even doing meditation. And yes, taking Action is a big part of our life, and a necessary step in changing anything meaningful. But to consider that our BE-ing might be more powerful than our DO-ing twisted my brain and stopped me in my tracks.

I chose to experiment with BE-ing for a whole week, to look for impact I have on others when I simply BE who I am. I chose to be curious about other’s BE-ing and their impact on me, too. And then it hit me.: The effect of our presence is HUGE. In fact, we are BE-ing while we are DO-ing all the time anyways, and how we “BE” affects how we DO the do-ing on all levels.

Back home, I discovered that I don’t have to DO anything MORE for my kids (other than feed them, clothe them, school them, you know the never-ending list). What they need me to do more than anything is to “BE” love and to be willing to SEE them BE who THEY are.

If I have not confused you yet by all the BE’s and DO’s and AM’s, I encourage you to just BE for a while, and notice the impact you have on others without even trying. I wonder what you will find.
